My works arise from intensive observation of mountain landscapes and their geological structures. Sketches and photographs taken on site form the basis of my painting. In the studio, however, this material is not simply reproduced: I reduce, shift, emphasize, or deliberately omit elements in order to condense the landscape’s effect.
I am less interested in a romantic atmosphere than in the physicality of rock, ice, snow, earth, and vegetation. Through slow layering, controlled color spaces, and a focus on surface structures, I attempt to make the landscape experiential not merely as a motif, but as an independent presence.
Humans remain absent in order to direct the view entirely toward the autonomy of nature and its silent, massive existence.
